Distribution and Website Designer

Hi my name is Meredith Selwood and I am currently in grade 12. I have always had a passion for helping those in need however I can. I thoroughly enjoy volunteering, donating to local food banks, and creating christmas hampers to give to those in need. I love the feeling of knowing that I personally made a difference in someone's life. However, it wasn’t until recently that I truly realized quite how much every little bit helps. This is when our group formed with the common goal of making the biggest possible difference in our own community for those in need.

Founder. Website Designer, Communications, and Distribution

Hi my name is Diya and I’m currently a senior in high school. Since middle school all I want is to give back to our community. Over the summer of 2017, as I was volunteering at my local soup kitchen, I realized how much food we waste in North America and how many people could be eating it. From that point, I started researching food consumption and invested countless of hours on trying to find out how we could improve our system. After talking to family and friends, I realized the key is giving it back to the community. I found that I was not the only one who shared these ideals and together Portia, Jordan, Meredith and I decided to start Neighbourhood bites!

Portia Balfour

Co-Founder, Communications, and Distribution

Hi I’m Portia and come from Seattle, USA. Like many Americans, I didn't hear anything about Canada besides it's reputation for kindness. However, moving to Victoria showed me about the huge disparity of wealth within the city. Being warm all year long it's no wonder that compared to the rest of the country Victoria is set up the best for people who are down on their luck. However with a high cost of living, all the cards are stacked up against them when it comes to getting back on their feet. I was wondering what I could do to help out, when I met these three other wonderful people. Together we are hoping we can give back to our community and help people in need.
